Position Purpose: Support Museum fundraising efforts and event planning for WonderLab’s annual Science Night Out (SNO) gala.

Start Date: Immediately, week of May 14th at the latest

Specific Duties:
We want to know what interests you! We will try to tailor this internship to something you are personally invested in, while meeting Development Department benchmarks and goals. Depending on the number of hours available and individual skills, you may work with Development team to:
- Identify and apply to grant opportunities
- Collaborate with the Science Night Out (SNO) planning committee to help plan the gala
- Develop and implement a plan for requesting silent auction donations for SNO, including reaching out to local businesses and organizations
- Create SNO promotional materials, such as invitations, postcards, programs, posters
- Attend Development networking events
- Brainstorm creative solutions to fundraising challenges!
The Development Intern provides high-quality donation and event assistance, relationship-building, and administrative support to the WonderLab Development Department in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. This position supports and engages in a multitude of fundraising activities including individual and household annual giving, special events, and corporate sponsorships, to meet the Department’s goals and objectives. The Development Intern helps ensure that all appeal, solicitation, and stewardship messaging conveys WonderLab’s mission of providing opportunities to experience the wonder and excitement of science.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of nonprofit organizational structure and the role of the Development department
- Ability to work hours during a Mon – Fri, 9-5 schedule
- Reliable with strong work ethic
- Creativity
- Appreciation for the VALUE of science in our society
- Friendly, positive and professional attitude; ability to work effectively with a variety of people
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva is a plus
- Photography skills are a plus
- Age 21+ preferred but not required, if interning during the fall (SNO is a 21+ event)
