Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
We have friendly, supportive teams with a coaching and mentoring environment. We are searching for candidates to support our client and internal work in a global consulting firm while building our hiring pipeline over time. An internship with us will provide real opportunities for future development and progression – this could be a move toward the exciting Sustainability career you have always wanted!
The internship is currently fully remote. Although the majority of our clients are based in North America, given the international nature of the Anthesis business and the needs of our clients, this role may lead to working between different time zones.
Based on skills and career interests, this role will support one of our Business Lines (teams that support particular consulting services – Climate, Nature, Supply Chain & Operations, and Sustainable Products, Packaging & Circularity) or Anthesis operational support functions (Finance, HR, Marketing). We do not expect candidates to have extensive experience in these areas of focus; rather we are searching for significant potential with a broad understanding of key relevant topics along with the ambition to succeed as sustainability activators for our clients. Coursework, prior employment, service, or extra-curricular activities relevant to the Practice area will be considered but is not required. Our Internship areas include:
- Climate: Providing analytics, solutions, and implementation support that drives progress toward Net Zero. Our current services include Greenhouse Gas Accounting (developing scope 1+2+3 carbon footprints), Science Based Targets & Net Zero (creating emissions reduction targets and implementation roadmaps), Climate Risk & Resiliency (equipping clients to assess and manage physical and transition risks), and Decarbonization & Energy Transition (measuring and costing specific decarbonization levers).
- Nature: Deliver across service offerings in Water Stewardship, Forest Positive, Regenerative Agriculture, and Nature & Biodiversity to build awareness around key capabilities and services. The role will be to support the team in developing materials that showcase Anthesis Group’s services to support companies in integrating nature’s value into decision making and investment processes.
- Supply Chain & Operations: Creating the systems and engaging supply chains to activate action and change to address supplier-level and product-level ESG hotspots. Our current services include Information Solutions and Supplier Engagement.
- Sustainable Products, Packaging & Circularity: Assessing and improving product and packaging impacts throughout the lifecycle; and enabling circular business models. Our current services include Lifecycle Assessment, Sustainable Packaging, Product Sustainability, Waste and Resource Recovery, and Circular Business Models.
- Marketing: Assist in improving reporting efficiency in HubSpot; collect performance metrics to measure progress; support teams to plan, develop and execute marketing initiatives; complete projects related to branding, content creation, and social media marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking project-related research; collecting and analyzing data.
- Engaging with and presenting to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Brainstorm strategies for continuous improvement.
- Play a key role in working cross-functionally with a whole host of stakeholders internally and externally to Anthesis ensuring the successful implementation of our sustainability-related projects.
- Be part of projects with colleagues in different offices and time zones.
Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous background in and/or passion for sustainability.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Effective at time management and organization.
- Comfortable working 100% remotely, using Microsoft Office products
- Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast-moving, and changing work environment.
- Work well with a wide range of people in a global environment.
- Proactive with the ability and confidence to use initiative and able to demonstrate analytical thinking.
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States or Canada without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
Knowledge, Education & Desired Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program relevant to the position (e.g. Sustainable Business, Environmental Studies, etc.) and entering the last year of program/studies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to manage competing deadlines and expectations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 package (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
- Relevant courses or experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: Data Analytics, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, CDP, Science-based targets, GHG accounting, Carbon Management , Sustainable Materials, Engineering, Marketing.
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, and software for data analytics (e.g., Alteryx) is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies, plus share the learnings.
