Tell us a little bit about yourself!
“I recently graduated from IU SPEA with a degree in Law and Public Policy. I began my college journey at IUPUI before transferring to IU Bloomington. During my time at IU, I was very active on campus. I worked at the IMU Bowling & Billiards and served on the IU Student Foundation Steering Committee, overseeing the Little 500. Additionally, I interned with the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council in Bedford.”
What does a day in the life working for the IU Foundation look like?
“Every day is different in this internship. I’m placed within the School of Public Health, and the program is very structured. Some days I participate in seminars and discussions on development, while on other days I assist my supervisor with various projects related to prospect management. This includes identifying potential donors, meeting with ongoing donors, and broad fundraising efforts.”
How did you come across this internship?
“My involvement with the Student Foundation was pivotal. An information session for the internship was held at the Wilcox House, the Student Foundation’s headquarters.”
What has been the most challenging thing you’ve learned on the job so far?
“One of the most challenging aspects has been adapting to the day-to-day variety. The foundation works with large donors, so the work can be very fluid. Some days involve meeting with one or several donors, while other days require extensive research.”
