Full-Time Jobs Expires February 10, 2023

We are looking for an experienced cell culturist with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and leadership experience. WiCell is a small, non-profit that is committed to quality and really cares about its employees. We are a close-knit, friendly, helpful, and hard-working group. We care about work-life flexibility and offer a stellar benefits package.

The Cell Culture Laboratory Manager will support organizational and stem cell research objectives by collaboratively managing and developing a team of cell culture specialists. The WiCell Stem Cell Bank (WSCB) team maintains cell cultures including human pluripotent stem cell lines, prepares cell samples for distribution and shipping globally, supports UW–Madison researchers through quality control testing and distribution of materials and reagents, and performs cell assays and banking projects. Additional responsibilities for this position include training and mentoring lab staff in cell culture, working with senior management and leadership to set lab and organizational priorities, managing appropriate resource and inventory allocation, participating in assay development projects, and reviewing and sign-off on reporting, SOPs and documentation. Work is normally preformed in a typical laboratory/office environment and weekend work is required on a rotating schedule.

WiCell is located at 504 S. Rosa Road in Research Park on the west side of Madison.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of experience in human pluripotent stem cell culture. A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, biochemistry, chemistry, or related equivalent experience is required. We strongly prefer candidates who have experience managing the day-to-day operations and people of a lab or related biology service but are open to candidates who have senior level lead, training, and/or mentoring experience. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required as well as the ability to problem solve and maintain confidentiality. Experience in flow cytometry and ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds shipping containers is also preferred.

To Apply:

WiCell promotes and supports an inclusive and diverse environment and offers competitive pay and benefits.
